To my Chi-town Community of educators;
All of us have been exposed to the impact of teachers, not having enough resources to help students. We know the pain of making choices on how to educate our students based on access. One thing we in Durham have always admired is the fortitude of the Chicago teachers union. If it ain’t right, you speak about it and stand firm until it’s corrected.
Unfortunately, the state of North Carolina doesn’t respect unions in the same way. So we have to find other ways to meet the needs of our educators, our students and the community.
As a board member of the Durham Public Schools foundation, I have seen firsthand the impact the foundation has had for our teachers, our students and community.
So from one educator to another, I’m soliciting you and helping me to meet my goal of raising $1000 by the end of the year. No amount is too small. Thank you in advance for your support and your help in the work we do together.
